How it Works

The Nordic AutoFeed is an automatic, weight-based hay feeder designed to mimic natural grazing patterns by delivering small, frequent meals throughout the day and night. Ideal for performance horses, hard keepers, metabolic horses, and anxious eaters, the AutoFeed takes the guesswork and stress out of feeding.
How It Works
Simply set your feeding schedule using the intuitive control panel. Choose:
First feed time (e.g., 5:00 AM)
Last feed time (e.g., 11:00 PM)
Number of feeds per day (up to 12)
Hay amount per day (in pounds)
The AutoFeed automatically calculates evenly spaced intervals. For example:
5 AM, 8 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM, 5 PM, 8 PM, and 11 PM.
At each interval, the non-pinch feed door slides open, allowing your horse to eat from a natural head position. Once the allocated weight of hay has been eaten, the door closes until the next feeding cycle.
For owners who prefer not to feed by weight, the AutoFeed also offers a time-based feeding mode. By overriding the scale, you can set the door to stay open for a specific amount of time (e.g., 15 minutes), ensuring consistent, small meals without using weight-based measurements.
The feeder holds a full 2- or 3-string square bale (~70 lb) and typically only needs to be refilled every 2–3 days depending on your settings.
Why Horses & Owners Love It
✔ Supports natural eating behaviour — small, frequent meals reduce stress, mimic grazing, and help prevent long fasting periods.
✔ Ideal for horses with health concerns — colic history, ulcers, metabolic issues, insulin resistance, food anxiety, or weight management challenges.
✔ Improves barn efficiency — replaces multiple daily feedings with a reliable, automated system.
✔ Promotes a calmer, happier horse — say goodbye to frantic “meal-time” behaviours such as pawing, pacing, biting and other food aggression.
✔ Feeds without restriction — slow-feed bars can be adjusted to either encourage or slow the rate of hay consumption.
Perfect For:
Performance horses needing regulated intake and consistent feeding
Easy keepers or overweight horses needing moderated portions
Ulcer-prone or colic-prone horses
Insulin-resistant or metabolic horses
Horses with food anxiety or stress
Owners looking for freedom, convenience, and precision feeding
Owners wanting to reduce hay wastage and costly labour bills
